Longer Projects

This week A1 has been gone to scout camp, having tons of fun I am sure! So I did a few longer activities or projects with A2 & A3. We are making aprons. I will show a finished project, soon I hope! This is a picture of A3 working on her embroidery. A3, needs a different colored thread. The other photo is A4 making a army tank, we purchased at Hobby Lobby. It was a hit, by the way. He now wants some paper army guys to sit in it.

Rock Painting

Just as the title says, rock painting! I told everyone to go outside and find themselves a rock. Then they chose how to paint it. I will spray them with a clear spray paint, and then they can put them outside, to help decorate the yard!

Noodle Art!

Supplies:
Noodles and rice, lots of different shapes and sizes!
Paper, Heavy duty. I had some foam pages for kids crafts. That's what we used. Though after I did it, I thought I should have cut up that large cardboard box we have out back.
Glue, we used school glue. Lot's of Glue!
This is what I did for little A6. She wanted a letter "A" then I smeared glue all over her page, and let her decorate, however she wanted.

I gave the A's very little directions on this. I laid out all the supplies, said we will make a picture with out paint, crayons or colored pencils. To get the details, and look, you need to think of texture. I had them lay out their main picture or idea, before they started gluing. It was a fun, and messy project!

Butterfly Art~ Symmetrical Art

So this was an off the top of my head activity! If we do it again, I will call it Symmetrical Art, not Butterfly Art!
While I was gathering supplies and preparing to start, I did discuss symmetry. I also discussed butterfly wings, and how they look.

To do this, simply fold a piece of paper in half. Paint on one side of the paper. We first drew pencil sketches of butterflies. Paint quickly and use plenty of paint. I would suggest doing an area for older children. Who want to add details, and take their time. Then when you have that side the way you want it, simply fold the paper over on top of the painted side and PAT down. Do not rub, unless you want a blended look. Then open the paper decide if you need to re-paint an area for more color. If everything turned out as desired, simply move to another area.
Next time we will all decide of our own symmetrical shapes and try them out!!

Marble Painting

This activity went SO FAST I only took a photo of the supplies :)
Supplies I used:
One disposable aluminum cooking pan per child
(you know those cheap ones you see everywhere!)
A bag of marbles
1 piece of card stock, or heavy paper
(make sure it's heavy weight paper)
PAINT!
To do this, we found it best to use less paint, and make very small and little paint dots on the paper. We did different colors at one time, about 3-4 colors. Then throw in a handful of marbles. Next time I might only use 1 marble at a time. Roll around, all directions and everywhere.

This was way fun, however way fast. We didn't have enough heavy duty paper to make more than one. So I added another off the top of my head activity!

Clothes Pin Display

I decided since it seems most of the posts so far have been dollar store items, I figured I'd give you another idea. This is a picture of a display area we have in our hallway. I took some thread {crochet thread} and push pins, to make the line. Then I hung clothes pins on it, and attached some of our FuNNeR TiMe Activities to it. I got this from another ladies blog, she used it for photos in her family room! She used nicer ribbon, and some nice silver hooks. I just adapted it to our needs!

Sand Art!

Today's activity {actually yesterday's!} is sand art. This is another little activity I picked up at the dollar store.

It came with little packets of colored sand. The paper was similar to a huge sticker. You would pill off the area that you wanted one color pour the sand on it, and dump it off. The colored sand would stick to the sticky area you uncovered! Mama Bear spent most of the time helping A's 5&6 A's 1&2 finished first and started helping.

Paint Bird Houses!

Today's activity, was to paint birdhouses!
{the two on the table belong to A5 & A6. They were napping!}
I picked these up from a local store on clearance for around $1-$2 each..

I am planning on spraying these with a clear weather proofing paint. Then Papa Bear, needs to help A1 make holes and tie on stings. Then every "A" gets to pick a place to put them outside!

I am ALWAYS on the lookout for these types of activities whenever I am running errands.
